Research Assistant

David Bowles is currently a Student Research Assistant in the Environmental Impact Laboratory at the School of Dentistry. Prior to his current position, he served as an intern for the School of Dentistry’s axiUm support office, where he gained knowledge specific to the University’s IT systems. He has also worked as a computer technician providing small businesses and individuals with hardware and software support.

David’s computer experience and knowledge of the axiUm system were valuable in a two-year project with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to quantify mercury emissions resulting from the cremation of dental amalgam, in Minnesota. He developed and managed the large database for this project. David is passionate about preserving our natural resources, and he is currently working with the Minnesota Nano Center on a project to contain mercury during the cremation process.
